What Is Cellulite?

We’ve written about this several times, but I think it’s important to revisit it each in each piece (just in the unlikely chance you haven’t already read all of our other material...yeah right, right?!).

We know that reports that cellulite affects 80 to 90 percent of women, and that, according to Cosmopolitan, cellulite targets both petite and plus-sized people and can show up at any age.

We also know it isn’t medically dangerous, but it is bothersome and unsightly. And we know that most anyone who has it wants to get rid of it--as evidenced by the search of how to get rid of cellulite every .71 seconds on google (thanks Telegraph).

What Is This Cream Thing?

So, in our piece about rollers and massagers, we said that cellulite massage basically helps to break up and loosen the connective tissue that protects and separates our muscles so that fat can lay flat under our skin (instead of bunched up and wrinkled). Though likey relaxing, massage aggravates the skin and helps to create some swelling--which in turn makes the skin look smoother.

Creams can help promote the “repair” of cellulite. reminds us that there is “no such thing as a ‘miracle’ cure for cellulite” and that creams “don’t work overnight and definitely aren’t a ‘permanent’ cure for cellulite” because nothing is. However, they say that “the best firming lotion” should be part of your process but aligned with lifestyle changes and the use of other product combinations--I’m assuming they mean rollers, brushes and massage.

How Do I Know Which Cream To Try? says to look for products with caffeine (which increases circulation and promotes lipolysis of fat cells), retinol (should be .3% and applied daily, but will help to increase blood flow and thicken the skin), vitamin C (crucial to collagen synthesis and acts as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant)

Fisetin and frambinone (derived from strawberries and raspberries aid in lipolysis, or fat burning), L-carnitine (helps with fat burning and the strengthening of skin cells), euglena Gracilis and Glaucium Flavum Extracts (when combined with caffeine, these substances help the body shed fat cells), Centella Asiatica (increases blood flow and allows for better absorption of nutrients).

Horsetail Extract (anti-inflammatory when used in topical application) and peptides (these amino acids serve as the building blocks for collagen and elastin--which make up the connective tissue in the skin that when weakened allows cellulite to show).

Best Cellulite Cream 2017 Edition

As stated above, there is no one-size-fits-all process for getting rid of cellulite, but the anti cellulite creams and firming lotions that follow--filled with caffeine, collagen and rich with lipids--will help you get smoother looking skin.

1. Anti Cellulite Treatment Massage Oil

This oil is made with a unique blend designed to help fight unwanted fat tissue that includes: grape seed (an astringent that helps in regenerating, moisturizing and tightening the skin); eucalyptus (combats fat deposits and acts as an anti-inflammatory), citrus lemon (stimulates the circulatory system and strengthens vascular tissues); and grapefruit (acts as a diuretic and lymph tonic that helps with water retention and fat reduction).

This product penetrates the skin more effectively than lotions and creams in order to fight excess body fat and cellulite at every level by eliminating toxins and balancing and nourishing your skin’s surface so it looks and feels more radiant.

2. Jergens Skin Firming Daily Toning Moisturizer

It’s not fancy, but it is the best lotion for cellulite. It visibly reduces the appearance of cellulite while hydrating the skin.

The collagen and elastin in the lotion helps improve the skin’s resiliency, elasticity and firmness while also relieving dryness and replenishing moisture to improve tone, texture and luminosity (read: enhance our glow, girl).

In addition to combatting cellulite, the lotion is great for keeping skin taut when losing weight.

3. Majestic Pure Anti Cellulite Cream

This cream is good for reducing the appearance of cellulite and relieving achy muscles. It utilizes peppermint and pine to naturally reduce inflammation and chamomile and eucalyptus to provide relief to muscles, but it also contains juniper, grapefruit and rosemary--all widely recognized for for their ability to tighten skin (which reduces the appearance of cellulite).

This blend is easily absorbed by the skin and helps promote healthy skin tone and improves elasticity (which, if you’ve been paying attention--is the biggest factor in reducing the appearance of cellulite).

While this is a great product and one of the best creams, it is recommended that you only use this cream externally and keep it away from private parts and avoid contact with eyes, ears, nose, mouth and face.

4. First Botany 100% Natural Arabica Coffee Scrub

Coffee is a stimulant, we all know this, but coffee grounds do the same thing for our skin that the liquid does for our bodies--caffeine is as much the enemy of cellulite as it is of exhaustion.

Massaging this scrub into problem areas stimulates blood flow.

There’s not much more to say than that...invigorate your skin with this product and you’ll likely see a vast reduction in the appearance of cellulite.

5. Bio-Oil Liquid Purcellin Oil

This oil is surprisingly non-greasy and won’t clog pores. It is hypoallergenic and ideal for all--even sensitive--skin types.

This product, like some others listed, utilizes a unique blend of essential oils that are easily absorbed into the skin, including calendula (has regenerative effects that treat sensitive, damaged skin while reducing inflammation); lavender oil (calms and soothes); rosemary (invigorates and conditions the skin and has both soothing and mild antiseptic effects); chamomile oil (acts as an anti-inflammatory that soothes and calms the skin).

We can’t say it enough, there is no one-size-fits-all process or product for getting rid of cellulite, but consistent treatment with one of these, or similar products, can help reduce those unsightly lumps and bumps. Remember that removing cellulite is difficult but with these creams and with massaging you can reduce the appearance.
