how to get rid of cellulite

Send Cellulite Packing with These Helpful Tips

As I’ve previously written, I read in a Telegraph article that how to get rid of cellulite “is googled every .71 seconds.” That means that tons of the 80- to 90-percent of women (and almost no men) are trying to determine how to remove cellulite. Most doctors (and retailers) will tell you that there is no way to really get rid of cellulite, so when we talk about how to get rid of cellulite fast, we are talking about ways to reduce the appearance of it.

What Is Cellulite?

Before we delve into how to reduce the appearance of cellulite, you should understand what it is. Fitness Magazine reminds us that cellulite “is more than skin-deep…[it] is pockets of fat that have squeezed between bands of tissue...that are under your skin.” Fitness also points out that size is not a factor in determining who does and doesn’t get cellulite, though “the more body fat you have, the more likely you are to...have significant dimpling. But even skinny women have some fat between their muscles and skin [which is] all it takes for cellulite to happen.”

How Do I Get Rid Of It?

Fitness brings it hard with the good news that there are ways to “temporarily minimize your lumps and bumps” that include hitting the gym, scaling back and getting to a healthy weight and strengthening your skin, but they also say “don’t get sucked into trying lipo” because it’s expensive, not guaranteed to work and may even exacerbate the problem down the line. (Read that as you should be focusing on how to get rid of cellulite naturally.)

So, let’s get into it.

Exercise.

exercise

Exercise, even if it doesn’t necessarily ensure the removal of cellulite, it is good for the body overall and may help in keeping tendons and connective tissue strong. Prevention Magazine lists lunges, plie squats with heel raises, calf raises, hip bridges and lifts, straight leg deadlifts and hamstring curls (all great strength training moves) as the best thing to actually make cellulite disappear.

Eat Healthy.

Though both heavy and thin women experience cellulite equally, Cosmo says that “a healthy diet plays an important role in keeping the signs of cellulite at bay.” Eating high sodium foods, they say, will cause water retention, which, in turn, will cause fat cells to swell, making cellulite appear more pronounced. Instead, keep a diet high in fiber and whole grain foods because they promote the removal of waste and toxins from the intestines. Eat fruits and veggies--because they’re good for you. And drink lots of water.

Strong Skin.

Pay attention to your skin. Whether it's through massage, brushing, exfoliation or moisturizing...stronger skin absolutely helps minimize the appearance of cellulite. There are a number of helpful blogs available on this site that outline the best cellulite brushes, rollers, massagers and creams out there. All of them useful in helping strengthen skin and promoting circulation and the release of toxins--all of which are necessary to help reduce the appearance of unsightly cellulite.

All of the above do require some work and commitment on your part. But if you’re looking to get rid of cellulite fast, Cosmo recommends wearing compression workout pants to help promote circulation and using self-tanner to camouflage your trouble spots.

There Are Also Home Remedies.

Outside of what is listed above, you can also try some fun home remedies for cellulite. If you’re trying to figure out how to get rid of cellulite naturally, Doctor Oz suggests the following:

Seaweed treatments. Seaweed is a natural exfoliant that will help stimulate circulation and flush toxins--these two things are the key to reducing the appearance of cellulite. Try mixing powdered seaweed with clay, lime juice and honey.

Tomato paste. Eat it, don’t wear it. Tomato paste is high in lycopene--even more than you would get from biting into a fresh tomato. Lycopene is an antioxidant that has been long-thought to help prevent collagen breakdown. Strong collagen will keep the fat layer under your skin from showing through.

    Dry brushing

Staying hydrated. Eight ounces of water per day is recommended, but, if you can, drink half your weight in fluid ounces. The more water you consume, the more plump and radiant the skin will look, rather than looking dimpled.

Dry brushing. Doctor Oz says, “Using a brush made with fairly stiff, natural fibers, brush your skin upward toward the heart in long sweeps. This buffs away dead skin, boosts circulation and helps lymphatic drainage, plumping the skin and reducing the appearance of cellulite.”

Load up on flaxseed. Flaxseed supports collagen growth, which strengthens the skin and reduces the appearance of cellulite. The seeds are good on their own, but also taste great in breads, cereal and yogurt.

Don’t Forget the Coffee!

Another home remedy that might interest you, especially if you are specifically interested in how to get rid of cellulite on thighs, is coffee. Women’s Health Mag tested DIY beauty tips, and this was one; they suggested. They mixed ¼ cup ground coffee and three tablespoons hot water to form a paste, then they mixed the paste with two tablespoons of olive oil. To use this, they say to cleanse your problem areas (thighs) in a warm shower , then turn off the water and apply the scrub, massaging in a circular motion for a few minutes. Rinse again with warm water to remove residue, pat dry and follow with moisturizer (or a cellulite cream, if you’re feeling froggy).

In Summary, Circulation is KEY!

In all of these remedies, the key is stimulating circulation. Increasing circulation helps, as we’ve said many times in this article, to smooth the rumpled look of cellulite.

Best Products to Roll or Massage Away Your Cellulite

Shape.com reports that cellulite affects 80 to 90 percent of women, and according to Cosmopolitan, cellulite doesn’t discriminate; it targets people both petite and plus-sized (and anywhere in between) and can show up at any age. Though not medically dangerous, it is unsightly for sure.

A quick Wikipedia search spells it out in super-sciency fashion, “Cellulite is the herniation of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue that manifests topographically as skin dimpling and nodularity, often in the pelvic region (specifically the buttocks), lower limbs and abdomen.” In layperson’s terms, cellulite makes your rear and thighs look lumpy or cottage-cheesy and is even sometimes described as orange-peel skin.

However you want to describe it, whenever you got it and wherever you have it--you undoubtedly want to know how to get rid of it. Cosmopolitan says that “while there's no magic wand you can wave to make a dimply derriere disappear,” there are ways of discouraging those pesky fat deposits building up beneath the skin and reducing the appearance of cellulite.

We won’t keep you waiting any longer!

One of those ways is cellulite massage, which can help the lymphatic system and improve blood circulation, reducing the appearance of cellulite. No, you don’t need to run off and make a spa appointment with a high-end masseuse, you can DIY a massage for cellulite to help banish that cottage cheese back to the fridge for good.

Did You Search It?

A recent Telegraph article revealed that How to Get Rid of Cellulite, “is googled every .71 seconds.” The article also states that “most of us are predisposed to have cellulite, but lifestyle factors including obesity, excessive carbohydrate intake, prolonged periods of sitting and smoking can make it worse.” Knowing all this, it seems just too good to be true that we could massage our own bodies to remove or diminish cellulite.

Massage for Lean Tissue

But, in doing cellulite massage, all we are really doing is breaking up and loosening the connective tissue that protects and separates our muscles so that our fat can lay flat (instead of wrinkled and puckered up) under our skin. By aggravating the skin with massage, using any one of the products listed above, we are able to create a little bit of swelling that makes the surface of the skin look smoother. Additionally, we increase and improve circulation so that our connective tissue can get stronger and leaner.

The only other way I know to get my body stronger and leaner is to work out. And wouldn’t you much prefer to remove your cellulite with massage than spending hours in the gym? Besides, ABC News said that regular exercise practice cannot cure cellulite and WebMD said that “some people are destined to have cellulite no matter how hard they work out.” So, get to it, I say. If relaxing and rejuvenating my body and spirit with a little personal massage will also help eliminate the lumpy areas on my bottom and thighs, then I’m all for it. And you should be too!

Does Massaging Help Cellulite? We Debunk the Myths

Cellulite is terrible. It looks bad and it makes you feel bad.  But its actually not a sign of unhealthiness.  It could be in your genes and exaggerated by overall unhealthiness. In this article we dive into cellulite and specifically if massaging helps. Also I give you a little product recommendation that you can buy here.

Does Massaging Help Cellulite?

Yes, massaging helps get rid of cellulite.  But usually just for a short period of time. Many specialists have discovered methods remove excess fluids from fat in the body especially in areas where the fat clings to tissues and forms cellulite.  The massage will leave you feeling better and looking better with less visible cellulite on your legs, thighs, butt, or arms.

Lets talk a little bit about Cellulite

Cellulite is fat.  So less fat, less cellulite. But we all have fat its a normal and necessary part of our body.  So what is the difference between cellulite and fat? Cellulite is the shape of the fat that shows through the skin when it clings to other tissues.  This could mean that you have too much fat in that area or it could just be the normal shape of your body.

That being said, the appearance is very unattractive.  And I know that appearances can affect your confidence which does affect your overall health.  So understanding this you can see how massaging can actually help the real problem of cellulite which is temporarily getting rid of it so that you can feel better.

My Cellulite Massager Recommendation

cellulite massagerSo I do have a suggestion for you.  You can buy this cellulite massager it works like a charm.  I use it almost everytime before I go out.  I massage my legs and thighs for a good 5 to 10 minutes everyday before going out.  It makes my skin feel a bit tighter and the cellulite less visible.  I give myself the approval in the mirror and I feel more confident.

You should do the same.
